Dr. Alan
R. Price is one of the world’s leading experts in:
conducting
investigations and reviewing allegations and reports from inquiries and investigations involving
scientific misconduct or research misconduct, having served from 1989 to 2006
as Scientist-Investigator, Branch Chief, Division of Investigative
Oversight Director, and Associate
Director for
Investigative Oversight in the Office of Research
Integrity (ORI) for the research agencies of the United States Public
Health Service (PHS), including the National Institutes of Health
(NIH), in the federal Department of Health and Human
Services (HHS).
Dr. Price is available
with his unique research misconduct expertise to assist:
- counsels for institutions
and attorneys for individuals
- institutional officials,
including Research Integrity Officers (RIOs)
- individuals who are
respondents who have been wrongly charged or wrongly convicted
- or individuals who are complainants
(whistleblowers).
Dr. Price will:
- review and make expert comments
for RIOs, counsels, or investigation committees on allegations, evidence, investigative processes, draft inquiry and
investigation reports, proposed sanctions and administrative
actions, etc., through telephone calls, email communications, or
on-site visits

- write expert reports with
analyses of whether allegations, evidence, and findings would fall
under the Federal/ORI definition of scientific or research
misconduct and whether they would rise to the level (or not) of
previous cases and findings by the ORI

- testify at committee meetings
or hearings of committees assigned to evaluate evidence or findings
of scientific misconduct or research misconduct, testify at
depositions or trials in civil suits, or provide expert testimony
for inequitable-conduct charges in patent-infringement suits.

- conduct investigations and/or assist RIOs and investigation
committees in reviewing and evaluating evidence and provide advice
for the drafting of findings and investigation reports.
